The Yale Citations 2014 - 2015
We present the Yale Citations of 2014 - 2015! We gathered in the McDougal Center this year for our group photo and took over the fireplace, confusing the graduate students who were keen enough to be studying there at 9:30 PM. Corey and Soyhang could not make it that evening, and we have already said farewell to Hasan, who left earlier this semester. We will all see you the concert!
Holiday Gigs 2014
So, this year has been perhaps our biggest holiday season ever, with over 10 gigs up to December 18, and perhaps more on the way. We have sung for President Salovey, our regular Mory's gig, several Project Storefronts events through greater New Haven, the First Holiday Baptist Church (as usual), the HGS Dining Hall Holiday Party, and we still have a couple more department parties and the Dean's Holiday Staff Party to come! We are looking forward to keeping up the momentum during the Spring semester, so if you have a party, give us a call.
Yale-United Way Partner
On Oct 22, 2014, President Salovey hosted an evening reception in the newly renovated Sterling Memorial Library, celebrating the 2014-2015 partnership of Yale with United Way and of recognising the achievements of United Way in improving the quality of life and economic opportunities for the people of Greater New Haven. We were privileged to be part of the proceedings, performing on stage before the President addressed the crowd.
Yale Founders Day 2014
Yale celebrated the anniversary of the university's creation 313 years ago with our first Founders Day celebration on Oct 14, 2014. The festivities culminated in a Cross Campus celebration with photo booths, seasonal food, and a performance by the Citations during President Salovey's address to the crowd of 2000!
Presidential Inaugration Weekend
Peter Salovey, Yale's 23rd President, was installed on Sunday, Oct 13, 2013, and following the ceremony Hillhouse Avenue was closed off for a massive Block Party with food, dancing, and of course singing! Following the procession, 11 of Yale's a cappella groups sang in the President with two of Yale's most famous fight songs, Boola-Boola and Bright College Years!
With the renovations to the School of Music underway, rehearsal space is limited across campus, and we are surrounded by the blackboards and chalk of WLH. Many of Yale's undergraduate a cappella groups rehearse in this space as well, so walking down the corridor can be quite a delight to the ears! This rehearsal we started learning our new arrangement of Man of Constant Sorrow, so watch for it at our upcoming events!
